Vera Bradley’s float for the 2009

Parade is appropriately titled “Hope

Grows”. Amidst an awe inspiring

garden scene of magnificent coloring

arises the hope of a cure for breast

cancer for women around the world.

With magical coloring and with the use

of full floral combinations and intricate

patterns, a vibrant garden scene is

produced.  The floral deck of this entry

is set amidst a grouping of green and

yellow spider mums, madam pomp,

lavender cattelyas, fuchsia, yellow and

orange gerberas and yellow orange

and hot pink roses.  Amongst the

flowers Vera Bradley handbags sit atop

the bundles of flowers as if to be

blooming from the plants themselves.

The handbags symbolize an effort for

raising awareness to breast cancer.

The watering can sits high above the

garden showering the garden with

hope to allow it to grow and flourish.

This float – the tallest in Rose Parade history at nearly 100 feet – depicts the “The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror “attraction  at Disney’s California Adventure park. The animated scene – with live shuddering passengers riding its shaky and unpredictable elevator – inspired by the classic CBS television series The Twilight Zone.  The rich golden tones of over fifty varieties of seeds and spices create the subtle shifts of color in the towering building with the windows reflecting a sky of blue and purple statice blossoms.  The soaring track of the roller coaster is crafted of bright pink roses with a Mickey Mouse profile fashioned of soft pink iris.
